Magenta Continues To Go Green With New Electric Cars

Magenta Security Services invests in electric cars to reduce its carbon footprint.

Magenta Security has invested in state-of-the-art electric cars for the company’s fleet of vehicles. The move is a long-term investment which will significantly reduce the company’s carbon footprint as well as vehicle running costs.

Magenta Security is considered one of the most environmentally friendly companies in the security industry. It was the first manned guarding company in Europe to be awarded certification to ISO 14001:2004 and was the first security company in the UK to become carbon neutral. Most recently it won Environmental Initiative of the Year at the Security Excellence Awards for its commitment to improving its environmental policies.

Managing director Abbey Petkar comments: “Magenta prides itself on being a carbon neutral company and has lived by the mantra reduce, reuse and recycle for many years. Sustainability is not just about the green message, which is why we have decided to make further improvements to our current and long term carbon footprint. We already operate a fleet of LPG vehicles. But we wanted to make further improvements and have decided to invest in electric cars. This will not only benefit Magenta but the industry as a whole as other companies can see if it’s a viable environmental initiative.”

Magenta has a strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy and its aim has been to achieve a 35% reduction in energy use, whilst continuing to educate the industry on matters of sustainability and environmental issues. Magenta has already improved its environmental initiatives by investing more than £20,000 in an environmentally friendly lighting system throughout its offices. In the last year alone, Magenta as reduced energy costs by 50% and is moving towards a paperless office.
