Celebrating 30 Years of Excellence and Five Sustainability Champion Wins

As we celebrate our 30th year in business, we are incredibly proud to have marked this milestone by winning the Security & Fire Sustainability Champion award for the fifth consecutive year.

The award was announced recently at the 2025 Security & Fire Excellence Awards, one of the most respected events in our industry and a recognised benchmark for excellence, innovation and best practice across security and fire protection.

The Sustainability Champion category recognises organisations that show true leadership in environmental responsibility and a long-term commitment to sustainable operations.

We were first awarded this title in 2023, retained it in 2024 and have now completed three consecutive wins in 2025.  Achieving this during our 30th anniversary year makes the recognition especially meaningful and reflects the consistency of our approach to sustainability.

This approach brings clear benefits to our clients.  Many organisations are working hard to strengthen their Environmental, Social and Governance credentials.  By partnering with a security provider that prioritises sustainability, our clients benefit from a greener supply chain without compromising on service quality.

Three Decades of Green Leadership

From the very beginning, we have believed that security and sustainability must go hand in hand.  This recognition reinforces that our approach works for our clients, our people and it motivates us to keep pushing standards higher.

As early as 2001, we became the first manned security company in Europe to achieve ISO 14001 environmental certification. This was a pioneering step at the time and demonstrated our long-term commitment to environmental management and continuous improvement.

Rather than treating sustainability as a bolt-on, we integrated environmental management systems into our core operations. That early decision laid the foundations for decades of progress and innovation, shaping the way we operate and the standards we set for ourselves as a business.

Over the years, we have continued to build on this commitment by focusing on reducing waste, reusing resources where possible and recycling responsibly.  This culture of continuous improvement runs throughout the organisation, with our people actively contributing ideas to help reduce our environmental impact.  As a result, we became one of the first security companies in the UK to achieve carbon-neutral status.

In 2022, we reached net zero operations three years ahead of our publicly stated 2025 target. Crucially, this was achieved without relying on carbon offsetting.  Instead, we focused on genuine reduction and elimination of emissions through operational change, an achievement that remains quite rare within our sector.

Sustainability Initiatives Driving Real Results

Our sustainability journey is built on practical action rather than headlines alone.  Key initiatives that underpin our progress include:

Greener Fleet
We have transitioned towards an all-electric vehicle fleet, supported by on-site solar charging at our headquarters.  By phasing out petrol vehicles and investing in electric alternatives, we have significantly reduced emissions associated with our mobile operations.

100 Percent Renewable Energy
All our offices and sites now operate using electricity sourced entirely from renewable energy, including solar and wind power.

Energy Efficiency Improvements
We have invested heavily in energy-efficient lighting, heating and insulation.  Early upgrades, such as moving to LED lighting, more than halved electricity consumption and contributed to a 75 percent overall reduction in energy usage.

Paperless Operations
Our move to a fully paperless working environment saves more than 125,000 sheets of paper each year.  Digital reporting and cloud-based systems have reduced waste while improving accuracy, communication and response times.

Carbon Footprint Reduction
Combined, these measures have reduced our carbon footprint from an estimated 450 to 500 tonnes per year to just 8 to 11 tonnes in recent years.  This progress has been recognised through Carbon Neutral Plus certification and continues to drive us towards maintaining true zero-carbon operations without offsets.

These initiatives benefit the environment and strengthen our business.  Solar panels at our headquarters generate enough energy to substantially reduce bills, with surplus energy returned to the grid.

Extending Sustainability into Cybersecurity

Our approach to sustainability goes beyond environmental impact.  We recognise that long-term resilience also includes protection against digital threats.  That is why we invested in our dedicated cybersecurity arm, Threat Evolution, extending our sustainability ethos into data and information security.

Through Threat Evolution, we support organisations with Cyber Essentials certification, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and cybersecurity awareness training.  By strengthening cyber resilience, we help clients protect their operations, data and reputations. For us, sustainability is not only about reducing emissions, but also about building secure, resilient organisations.

Transparency, Community and Social Value

Our commitment to sustainability also extends into our communities.  We actively support Police Community Clubs locally and sponsor children internationally, reflecting our belief that commercial success should go hand in hand with social responsibility. These initiatives form part of a broader approach to delivering long-term value for people as well as the planet.

Sustainability as a Way of Life

For us, sustainability is not a campaign or a one-off project.  It is how Magenta operates every day; from the vehicles we drive and the energy we use to the way we support communities and help clients improve their own environmental performance.

As we celebrate our 30th anniversary and this latest Sustainability Champion win, we do so with pride and a strong focus on the future.  Recognition like this is not an endpoint, but a motivator to continue improving and leading by example.  Our journey shows that it is entirely possible to deliver exceptional security services while protecting the planet for future generations.
